City street

The city is the most available 'set' you have. The skill is reading the street: using its lines and light to frame her, and finding the soft pockets between hard sun and deep shade.

The usual miss

Plant her in the middle of the pavement, busy storefront behind, hard sun slashing half her face — snap. The street has so much going for it, and the standard photo uses none of it: no leading lines, no sense of depth, a cluttered background, and whatever harsh light happened to be there. It reads like a tourist snapshot because nothing in the frame was chosen.
