The usual miss
Most phone photos get taken whenever and wherever — often under harsh midday sun or a bright ceiling light directly overhead. That straight-down light drops hard shadows into her eye sockets and under her nose ("raccoon eyes"), and makes her squint. Then the photo gets blamed on the phone, or worse, on her.
Light has a direction and a quality, and almost nobody stops to notice either. Once you do, you can't unsee it — and your photos jump a level for free.
